Several States celebrate their formation day

In Madhya Pradesh, special programmes are being held in all the district and block headquarters on this occasion.

AIR Bhopal correspondent reports, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off a mini-marathon of women.

The state-level foundation function will be held at Bhopal’s Lal Parade ground this evening. Daughter is the theme of the function.

The function will begin with the cultural programme Shubhra.

Eight hundred artistes will take part in it. Playback singer Asha Bhosle and film actress Hema Malini will give musical presentation in the function. Women’s creative power and capabilities will be showcased through a fabulous laser show.

Termed as a backward state few years back, Madhya Pradesh is on the path of all-round development now. It has already achieved the target growth rate of 9 percent of 11th five year plan. The per capita income in the state has been doubled in the last five years and now it is about 34 thousand rupees.

Karnataka is also celebrating its 56th State Formation Day today. It was on this day in 1956, the new State of Karnataka was born within the Indian Union.

On this occasion, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will present Rajyotsava Award to eminent persons in a function this evening.

In a Grand function in Bangalore Chief Minister hoisted Kannada flag and urged the people of the state to work for the comprehensive development and improvement of Kannada language.

He thanked Central Government for releasing 10 crore rupees for the development of Classical language Kannada.

Kannada Rajyotsava is celebrated all over the state with many organizations arranging cultural programmes.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured that his Government would strive to provide equal opportunities to all regions and sections of people in the state.

Addressing people at a colorful ceremonial parade held in Hyderabad as part of the State Formation Day celebrations, he announced a series of welfare measures aimed at benefiting farmers, youth, weaker sections and minorities.

He said interest-free loans up to one lakh rupees for farmers would be implemented from the Rabi Agriculture season and employment orders would be given to one lakh youth by December this year.

He also announced a free medicine distribution scheme which would be launched soon in three districts on a pilot basis.

Later the Chief Minister formally launched one rupee a kilo rice scheme in Hyderabad.

The scheme is aimed at benefiting 7.5 crore people who are Below Poverty Line with an additional subsidy of 600 crore rupees.

Puducherry and its outlying regions of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam which were under French rule for more than 250 years became free as a result of a referendum held on October 18, 1954 at Kizhoor, a village in Villianoor commune panchayat .

It was on this day that Ms. Pierre Landy, Diplomatic Counsellor representing the French Government handed over the administrative power of the Union Territory to Indian Commissioner Kewal Singh and for the first time the national tri colour was hoisted marking the end of French rule. Haryana is celebrating its 46th foundation day today as it was on this day in 1966 state came into existence by bifurcating Punjab in Hindi speaking areas and Punjabi speaking areas while hill areas of
Punjab were included in Himachal Pradesh.

Present day Punjab also came into existence on this day and Chandigarh as union Territory was declared capital of both the states.
On foundation day of the state, extending his warm greetings and felicitations to the people of the state, Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced that an additional special allowance of 500 rupees per month would be given to all safai karamcharis whether working on regular basis or daily wage basis. He also announced to introduce a modern technology-based new scheme called “constant vigil and better security” to provide fool-proof security to the people of the state.

He also announced to increase the monthly honorarium of chowkidars from 1500 rupees to 2000 rupees.
These announcements would come into force with immediate effect from today.
Mr. Hooda said that a sum of 100 rupees crore had been earmarked for the first phase of the security scheme being launched today.
It had been decided to install city surveillance system in two major cities–Gurgaon and Faridabad at a cost of 80 crore rupees and in six
other cities Rohtak, Sonepat, Panipat, Karnal, Yamunanagar and Panchkula at a cost of 10 crore rupees under its first phase.
