Power Minister, Piyush Goyal said that several power plants across the country are facing shortage of coal. Replying to a media query in New Delhi today, he said that lower production of coal during the last five years is the primary cause of shortage. Mr Goyal also said that production in mines across the country did not increase and new mines could not be opened during the period.
