Several parts of north India reeled under intense heat wave conditions with mercury breaching 44 degree Celsius in several parts of the region today.
The capital Delhi recorded a high of 43.2 degrees Celsius, four degree above normal and a minimum of 32.4 deg C. Sizzling temperatures coupled with hot winds made life miserable for people of Uttar Pradesh with Ballia recording a high of 44.5 deg C.
In Punjab and Haryana mercury stayed above normal. Amritsar sweltered at 46.6 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh recorded 42.3 deg C, up by three notches.
In Haryana, Hisar sizzled at 44 deg C while Rohtak was hot at 43.6 deg C.
Heat wave also swept parts of Rajasthan where Sriganganagar remained the hottest place with a maximum of 44.8 deg C.
