Several parts of North India reel under cold wave

Several parts of North India are in the grip of cold wave. In RajasthanChuru in the plains recorded 4 degree Celsius whereas Mount Abu, the sole hill station in the state, settled at minus 2 degree Celsius. In the Himalayan mountains Kashmir Division continued to reel under sub-zero temperatures with mercury plummeting to minus 16.6 degrees Celsius in Leh and the summer capital Srinagar recording a minimum of minus 4.0 degree C. In Punjab and Haryana, Narnaul remained coldest place in the two states at a minimum of 4.3 degrees Celsius. In Gujarat, severe cold conditions are prevailing in some parts of Kutch and Saurashtra. The cold condition in Uttar Pradesh has intensified and in many places the lowest temperature is below normal. Agra recorded a lowest of 4.5 degree Celsius which was 5 degree below normal in the last twenty four hours while Lucknow, Varanasi, Aligarh, Raibareilly, Gorakhpur and Meerut also recorded temperatures below normal.
