Several parts of the North India continue to reel under severe flood. Ten more people died and thousands were affected as flood waters inundated low lying areas following incessant rains in north India today. In Uttar Pradesh, the overflowing rivers has badly marooned over six hundred villages and damaged thousands of acres of agricultural land and its crop in flood affected areas. Eight people, including four children, died in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh's Farukkhabad, Sitapur and Barabanki districts.The worst-hit districts are, Bahraich, Ballia, Basti,Lakhimpur Kheri,Pilipbhit Balrampur, Barabanki, Sitapur , Faizabad, Gonda Gorakhpur and Badaun. The continuous flow of Ghaghara above the danger mark in three dstricts has badly affected life in Ayodhya,ballia and Barabanki. Rising level of the Ganga and the Yamuna rivers are also posing a serious threat to several districts, officials said.Ramganga River has also crossed the danger mark at Dabri in Shahjahanpur while Rapti River in Gorakhpur is also flowing 65 centimeters above the danger mark. In Bihar,the flood situation in Northern part of the state is grim as water level of river Kosi Bagmati and Gandak is swelling all along its course. AIR Patna correspondent reports that three hundred villages have submerged. Major areas of Narkatiyaganj town have also been submerged. Surging water of turbulent Bagmati has entered fresh areas of Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur districts of the state. Vehicular traffic between MuZaffarpur and Sheohar has been paralysed following knee deep water flowing on the highways. The state government has launched a massive relief operation in the flood-hit areas. In Punjab, rains lashed Ludhiana, Moga,Pathankot, Shahpur Kandi and several villages have been put on alert in Ludhiana and Ferozepur districts as water level of Sutlej rive is rising. Officials said Sutlej had submerged vast tracts of agricultural land in Ferozepur district. While one woman was washed away in flash floods in Ujh river in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district and a man was killed after his house collapsed on him due to heavy rains in Rajouri district. Some parts of the national capital experienced light to moderate rains this morning. According to the Met Office, there are possibilities of light rains during the day also in some areas. The Yamuna continues to flow above the danger mark. Authorities said they are prepared to tackle any eventuality. The water level had touched 205.96 metres on Wednesday evening. Currently, over 1,400 people are taking shelter in the169 relief camps set up in various places near low-lying areas along Yamuna in east Delhi. Around 200 people were evacuated from the banks yesterday. Rail traffic has been resumed on Old Yamuna Bridge. The bridge was closed for road and rail traffic yesterday after the water level in Yamuna river rose dangerously.
