Several monasteries in East Sikkim district report surge in COVID-19 cases over past week

<span style="color: #222222;">Several monasteries in East Sikkim district have reported a surge in COVID-19 cases over the past week. A total 85 of the 420 COVID-19 cases recorded today in the state were reported from Rumtek monastery from 219 RT PCR samples. The surge comes a day after 122 tested positive from the Nyingma Institute in Martam near Rumtek in East Sikkim.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A total 311 monks have tested positive from five monasteries over the past week. These include 122 from Rumtek monastery now, including 37 cases recorded earlier this week; 122 from Nyingma Institute in Martam near Rumtek monastery; 61 from Gonjong monastery and five from Nor Monastery, both in Gangtok; and two cases from Lingdum monastery. All these monasteries are located in Gangtok and its periphery in East Sikkim.</span><br />''  <br />
