Government has decided to start Kaushal Vikas Yojana to set up 1500 new ITIs and 5 thousands Skill Development Centres in Public Private Partnership mode in 12th Five Year Plan. It has also extended Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana to construction workers, street vendors, MGNREGA workers, domestic workers and beedi workers in the country.
This was stated by Labour and Employment Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge while, inagurating an Electronic Challan-cum-Return web portal on the occasion of International Labour Day in New Delhi today. The web portal will provide an opportunity for the employer to file their returns online from anywhere.
Mr. Kharge said government has issued around three crore smart cards under the Swasth bima Yojana till now. Expressing concern over the child labour in the country, the Minister said due to the government's persistent efforts,child labour has decline 45 percent in the year 2009-10 compared to 2004-05. He said the Ministry has been making sincere efforts for skill development and over 13 lakh persons have been trained under Skill development Initiative scheme so far.
On this occasion, the Minister also launched a Newsletter, SHRAM SANSAR for channelising information, government efforts and labour related matters. He said the newsletter will provide effective channel of communication between the government and the employers.
