Several issues of national importance taken up in Budget session of Parliament: Venkaiah Naidu

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has expressed satisfaction over the business transacted in both the Houses. Briefing reporters at the end of the Budget session of Parliament, Mr. Naidu said, several important issues of national importance like price rise, flood and drought, UPSC-CSAT, atrocities against women and communal violence were discussed. Working of several ministries including Home Affairs and Power were also discussed. He said, the government tried its best to reach out to the opposition on the issues which merited to be taken up on priority. Mr. Naidu underlined that in the just concluded Budget session, Parliament have 27 sittings as compared to 24 in 2004 and 26 in 2009. As many as 20 Bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha as compared to 16 in 2009. Both the Houses passed 12 bills as against 8 in 2009 and 6 in 2004.

Mr. Naidu said that one of the land mark achievement of the session is that the government has shown unmatched unanimity in passing the Constitution Amendment Bill and Judicial Appointments Commission Bill.
