Several initiatives taken by EC to make elections accessible for Specially Abled people, says CEC Rajiv Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has said that several initiatives are being taken by the election commission across the country to make elections accessible for Specially Abled people. He said that the commission wants more sensitization towards the Specially Abled people. Mr. Kumar said this while addressing the National Conference of PWD Icons for Accessible Elections at Akashvani Bhavan in New Delhi today.<br />'' <br />'' At the conference, Mr. Kumar along with Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey launched the PWD App 2.0 and a Training Module on sensitization of election. The App aims to provide election information to Specially Abled people in a friendly way. Interacting with the state icons for PWDs, Mr. Pandey said that the commission needs their support to ensure every voter casts their vote and strengthens Indian democracy.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports that in the conference election commissioners interacted with several state icons of PWD and took their suggestion to make a more accessible election process for Specially Abled people. Election Special officer Dr. Ranbir Singh, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities secretary Rajesh Agarwal, and Nation Icon for PWD Dr. Niru Kumar were also present at the conference.
