Several efforts made to protect environment during last 8 yrs of NDA regime

In the last eight years of NDA rule, the Government has taken several steps to protect the environment. It was due to the Center's efforts that the forest cover in the country has seen a significant rise.<br />”<br />”As compared to 2019, forest cover in the country has increased to 2,261 square kilometres in 2021. Tigers in India have seen a rise from 1,706 in the year 2010 to 2,967 in the year 2018. India has already achieved the target of doubling the tiger population in the country, well ahead of the set target. The population of one-horned Rhinoceros has seen a 15 per cent rise. Similarly, the population of Elephants in the country is also on the rise.&nbsp;<br />”<br />”Padma Shri awardee and Environmentalist Shyam Sundar Paliwal gave credit to the government for the rise in the number of wild animals and forest cover.<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">In the last eight years, the government's commitment to Jal, Jungle and Zameen (Water, Forests and Land) gives new hope.</span><br />
