Several cine stars trying their political fortune in West Bengal assembly elections

In the on-going West Bengal assembly elections several cine stars are trying their political fortune on the ticket or ruling Trinmool Congress (TMC) and opposition BJP. This time the list of contestants from Bangla Cinema and television industry are longer than 2016 assembly elections.  AIR correspondent reports, BJP which is seeking to oust TMC from power has fielded a host of actors from Bangla film industry known as Tollywood. In an attempt to capitalize the stardom of cinema the party has put stake behind famous actors like Yash Dasgupta, Anjana Basu, Payal Sarkar, Tanushree Chakravarthy and Papiya Adhikari.<br />'' <br />''Besides, this famous film singer and union minister Babul Supriyo is also in the fray from Tollygunj assembly constituency. BJP candidate and cine star Srabanti Chaterjee is taking on senior TMC leader and state education minister Partha Chaterjee in Behala West assembly seat.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">On the other hand Trinmool Congress which has started the trend to field large numbers of cine stars has also shown faith again on popular faces of the silver screen. The Mamata Banarjee led party has pitted film stars Soham Chakravarthy, Sayantika Banerjee, Aditi Munshi, Kanchan Malick and Raj Chakravarthy against candidates of rival parties.  Famous actress June Maliah is Trinmool candidate from Medinipore assembly seat. </span><br />
