In Bihar, polling is underway for the seventh phase of Panchayat elections. Voting is taking place for 907 Gram panchayats spread over 62 blocks amid tight security. The polling, which began at 7 am, will end at 5 in the evening. In naxal affected areas, polling will end at 3 pm. Out of 62 blocks in this phase, 12 have been declared naxal affected. A total of 97 thousand 505 candidates are in the fray. Indo-Nepal border along the state has been sealed to check infiltration.Meanwhile, the district authorities have filed charge sheet against 290 persons including 62 Mukhias following their involvement in poll violence and irregularities. State Election Commission has instructed to start speedy trial against these persons in the fast track courts.
