In China, the state media today said that seven people have been killed in a gas accident in a coal mine, southwest of the country. The accident took place on Tuesday in Weixin County in Yunnan province. Thirteen miners managed to escape. The police have taken the mine managers into custody, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is on. Official statistics last year, states 2,433 people died in coal mine accidents in China.
