In Rajasthan, seven newly inducted Ministers in the Ashok Gehlot’s Council of Ministers, were sworn in at a brief function organized at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur on Wednesday evening. Governor Shivraj Patil administered the oath of office and secrecy to these Ministers.
Mr. Ashok Bairwa who has been promoted to Cabinet rank, was the first to take the oath. Mr. Virendra Beniwal, Amin Khan, Daya Ram Parmar, Manju Devi, Nasim Akhtar 'Insaf' and Vinod Kumar were sworn in as Ministers of State.
With this reshuffle, the total number of Ministers in the Council is 27 now. Apart from this, there are 13 Parliamentary Secretaries.
Reconstruction of Gehlot Cabinet is being seen as a damage control measure caused by Bhanwari Devi, Paras Devi and Gopalgarh incident. It is understood that the portfolios of the Ministers may be allocated on Wednesday night or Thursday. Departments of present Ministers are also likely to be changed. Earlier five Ministers were dropped from the Cabinet.
