Seven naxalites killed in ongoing encounter in Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, seven Naxalites have been killed in the ongoing encounter in the Saranda forest range of West Singhbum district. Speaking to AIR Correspondent, the Superintendent of Police, Chaibasa, Arun Kumar Singh told that nearly five thousand police personnel have encircled the forest both from Jharkhand and Orissa sides. The operation now going on is called 'Operation Saranda'. Police sources told AIR Correspondent that nearly 500 Naxalas are hiding in the forest. DIG Kolhan Range Navin Kumar Singh is heading the operation under which five SP-level police officers are also taking part. To divert the attention from the ongoing operation, the Naxals have blew up a Panchayat building and a school hostel this morning in the near Saranda forest range under Anantpur Police Station.
