Seven-member delegation of BCI to meet SC judges today to resolve judges issue

The seven-member delegation, set up by the Bar Council of India (BCI), will begin its meetings with the judges of the Supreme Court today to resolve the issues raised by the four senior-most judges during a press conference recently.

BCI, the regulatory body for lawyers, met in New Delhi yesterday and unanimously decided to form a delegation to meet the Judges. Addressing media after the meeting, BCI Chairman Manan Mishra said, the delegation will request the apex court judges to resolve the issues at the earliest.

Mr Manan said such matters should not be made public as Judiciary is an important pillar of the Constitution and the people have unflinching faith in the judicial system.

He also appealed to the political parties not to politicise the matter. Mr Manan appreciated the government's stand for not interfering in the internal matter of the Judiciary.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Bar Association has passed a resolution saying the differences of four senior-most judges with the Chief Justice should be considered by the full court of the apex court.
