Seven districts of Kerala to go to polls on Oct 23

Seven districts of Kerala will go to the polls on Saturday for the first phase of local self government elections. About 104 lakh voters are eligible to exercise franchise.Fifty percent of different posts to the local self government institutions of the state are reserved for women through a recent legislation. Since the assembly election of Kerala is a few months away, the present election campaign has witnessed intense competition between the ruling LDF and the Congress led opposition.BJP is also in the fray to corner more seats than the previous Panchayat election. The second phase of the local elections will be held on Monday and the result will be out on the 27th of October.
