In Assam, around 2 lakh 50 thousand people of 300 villages are still reeling under flood water in Nalbari, Barpeta and Morigaon district. Four persons, including a child were drowned in the flood water yesterday at Bhella -Durgapur area in Barpeta.With this, the death toll increased to seven in the recent flood. Our correspondent rports that Barpeta district administration has announced an ex gratia to the families of the flood victims. The State Disaster Response Force has been instructed to take preparations to meet any eventuality in the days to come. At least 40 schools have been forced to shut down temporarily .Relief materials are being distributed regularly at the flood affected areas. Boat services have been put into services. Medical teams with life saving medicines are also being deployed. So far, there is no report of the outbreak of any water borne diseases. Assam government has instructed officials to expedite relief works.
