In Uttar Pradesh seven Congress MLAs and scores of party workers were arrested today in Raebareli district while attempting to proceed towards Dalmau to oppose inauguration programme of a bridge over river Ganga. It was inaugurated by two state government ministers.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Congress had submitted a memorandum with state Governor Mr. B L Joshi demanding him to get the minister's programme cancelled.<br/><br/>The party MLAs have said that the bridge was constructed through funds provided by Union Ministry of Surface Transport. They have also said that the Congress national president was scheduled to inaugurate the bridge in the second week of March.<br/><br/>Union Minister of State for Surface Transport Mr. R P N Singh was also stopped at Raebareli by police yesterday while he was on his way to Dalmau to inspect the bridge.<br/><br/>The PWD Minister of the state Mr. Naseemuddin Siddiqui had inaugurated the one-km bridge in the state capital yesterday in hurriedly held function and it was presided over by the another minister Swami Prasad Maurya. Both the leaders thrown open the bridge for public today.<br/>

Seven Congress MLAs held in UP
