<span style="color: #222222;">In the series Seva Saptah, AIR brings you a special story on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.<br />”<br />”In the last six years, Narendra Modi government has given a lot of emphasis on the issue of girl child's education and declining Child Sex Ratio. The main objective of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is to ensure survival and protection of the girl child. The scheme also ensures education and participation of the girl child through coordinated and convergent efforts.<br />”<br />”The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 at Panipat in Haryana. Mr Modi had said that there is an urgent need to reduce the increasing imbalance amongst the girl and boy child for the betterment of the society.<br />”&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br />”The Census 2011 data showed a significant declining trend in the Child Sex Ratio, calculated as number of girls for every 1000 boys between age group of 0-6 years, with an all time low of 918 in 2011 from 976 in 1961. The decline was widespread across the country and had expanded to rural as well as tribal areas.<br />”<br />”Worried by the sharp decline, the Government of India has introduced Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme to address the issue of decline in CSR in 100 gender critical districts. With coordinated and convergent efforts, the Government had ensured survival, protection and &nbsp;education of the girl child.<br />”<br />”After the launch of the scheme, the child sex ratio at birth has improved to 931. Expanded in a phased manner, the scheme is currently being implemented in all the 640 districts of the country.&nbsp;</span><br />
