Services dominates National Games with 91 Gold; Sajan Prakash adjudged Man of Sports

On the concluding day of the 35th National Games in Kerala today, Services top the medals tally with 91 Gold, 33 silver and 35 bronze. Hosts Kerala are in second position with 54 gold, 47 silver and 61 bronze. Haryana with 39 gold, 40 silver and 27 bronze, is placed third in medals tally. Maharashtra with 30 gold, 43 silver and 49 bronze, is at 4th position in the table. Golden boy, Sajan Prakash of Kerala, with his sparkling performance in swimming was adjudged the Man of Sports at the 35th edition of the National Games. The 21-year-old boy, working as Junior staff with Railways, not only won eight medals, including six gold, but also set five new records in individual events.Naveen Kumar of Services won the Gold, in the men's 3000 meter steeple chase.Services also won gold in the men's Hand-ball event. Kundan of Services won gold in the pole-vault event for men.Today, the hosts won two gold in Canoeing in both men's and women's events. Kerala's Ranjit Maheshwari won a gold in triple jump . Middle distance runner, Tintu Lukka of Kerala broke an 18 year old meet record to win gold in the women 800 meters race. Sajeesh Joseph, also of Kerala, won gold in the men's 800 meters race. Kerala also beat Karnataka 3-1 to annex women's bolleyball gold.Kerala's women relay team won the gold in 4 x 400 Meter relay. Tamil Nadu relay team won the gold in 4 x 400 meters for men. Navjith Kaur of Punjab won gold in women's discuss throw. Haryana won gold in women's hand-ball event, defeating Punjab 30-25 in the final. Rajinder Singh of Haryana broke the national record today clearing the distance of 82.23 mtrs. with spear. Haryana girls today won gold in the women's Kabaddi defeating Maharashtra 20–17.Maharashtra's Siddhant Thingalia won a gold in men's 110 meter hurdle race. National record holder and Maharasthra girl Lalita Babar wrested the gold, scripting a new mark in the 3,000 meter steeple chase, clocking 9 minutes and 42:63 seconds. Swapna Burman of West Bengal won gold in Heptathlon event.
