The Kerala Revenue Minister Mr Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan today said that serious encroachments have taken place in Munnar region and warned that stern action will be initiated against those involved. Mr Radhakrishnan, who visited a few places in Munnar following reports that large scale encroachments are taking place in the region, told media that a report in this regard will be submitted to the State Chief Minister Mr Ommen Chandy tomorrow. He said, the interests of the tribals and farmers who have settled in the region long back will be protected. The Minister said the government will not allow tribals to be used as human shields to protect the interests of resort mafia, who have encroached land in the catchment areas of Aanayirangal Dam.
