In Iraq, more than 100 persons were killed and over 350 injured in a spate of car bomb blasts, suicide bombings, road side blasts and shootouts across the country on Sunday.
The deadly attacks including 25 blasts took place in 13 cities across the country in Shiite neighbourhoods of Baghdad, Balad, Dujail, Kirkuk, Samarra, Basra, Nassiriya and Tuz Khurmato.
Iraqi Interior Ministry has blamed Al Qaeda affiliate, Islamic State of Iraq for the deadly attacks. In a statement issued in Baghdad it said that the attacks on the markets and mosques are to provoke sectarian and political tensions. But Iraq will continue its war against terrorism.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the manner in which it has been carried bears the hallmark of Al Qaeda militants. Only two days ago, the Al Qaeda affiliate in Iraq claimed responsibility for 131 incidents during Ramadan in the country.
