Serena storms into Wimbledon semi-finals

Serena Williams of US stormed into semifinals knocking out title-holder Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic as Victoria Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska and Angelique Kerber joined her in the Wimbledon semi-finals of Women's Singles.Kvitova tipped Williams to win a fifth Wimbledon crown after the US sixth seed used her experience and cool nerve to dethrone the Czech with a 6-3, 7-5 victory on Tuesday. Williams faces Australian Open champion Azarenka in the semi-finals after the Belarusian second seed reached the last four for the second successive year with a 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) win over unseeded Austrian Tamira Paszek.Indian challenge ended in the men's doubles event of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships as Indo-Czech pair of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek and the Indian duo, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna suffered defeats in their matches in London yesterday. While fourth seeds Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek were stunned by Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in a gruelling weather-hit five-setter, Bhupathi and Bopanna lost in straight sets to Mikhael Elgin and Denis Istomin. Paes is still in the fray as he is playing in the second round of the mixed doubles, partnering Elena Vesnina.
