Union Law and Justice Minister Mr M.Veerapa Moily has said the centre will enact a separate law to deal with sexual offences against children. Speaking at a consultative meeting on Law reform and legislation for sexual offences against children in Chennai this morning, he said a bill on this is likely to be introduced in the coming session of parliament.<br/> <br/>Quoting a study undertaken by the centre in 2007, Mr Moily said of the 420 million children in India, nearly 53 percent had disclosed of being sexually victimized in one way or other.<br/><br/>Calling for a national movement to check the increasing rate of sexual abuses against children, Mr Moily said enacting a law only could not provide a solution to prevent the heinous act.<br/><br/>Later speaking to newsmen Mr Moily said law to prevent honour killing will be sent to the cabinet for its approval. Replying to a question on the tamil nadu government’s demand for making tamil as an official language of the madras high court, the law minister said the centre has sent the proposal to the supreme court and it is for the judiciary to decide.<br/><br/>Mr Moily also inaugurated a regional meeting of Chief Justices, state law ministers and secretaries of the Southern States. The meeting will deliberate on working out a mechanism to effectively utilize funds allotted by the 13th finance commission.
