Separate devpt board for backward areas of erstwhile H'bad K'taka region

Parliament has passed the Constitution Amendment Bill to set-up a separate development board for the backward areas of the erstwhile Hyderabad-Karnataka region with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday.

All 163 members present in the House voted in favour of the Bill. The Lok Sabha had passed it unanimously on Tuesday. Six districts of Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal, Yadgir and Bellary in Karnataka will now benefit from equitable allocation of funds for their upliftment.
