Hosting its maiden international Sepaktakraw event, India began their campaign in the men's section with recoding a victory. They defeated higher-ranked Singapore on the opening day of the World Super Series in New Delhui today. The home side, ranked eighth in the world, defeated fifth-ranked Singapore 14-16, 11-15, 15-9, 17-16 and 15-7 for a total score of 2-63 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Complex. India will play against Singapore again tomorrow to decide the group topper. However, the women's team lost to Indonesia 0-3 in their opening Group A match. The Indians lost 10-15, 10-15, 8-15 in just 48 minutes.
