Snapping fours days of losing streak, domestic benchmark indices surged today amid hopes of a stimulus package by the government.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange zoomed 1,627 points, or 5.8 per cent, to end at 29,916, today.

The Nifty at the National Stock exchange jumped 486 points, or 5.9 per cent, to 8,750. In the broader market, the BSE Midcap index gained 4.2 percent and the Smallcap index rose four per cent.
