The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex today lost nearly 118 points in morning trade. However in the afternoon trade it gained some points and was trading at 16858, up by over 72 points when reports last came in. Similarly Nifty of National Stocks exchange which lost over 41 points in morning trade was trading flat at 1400 hrs at 4990. The Hong Kong's Hang Seng index and Japan's Nikkei were down by almost one per cent in early trade today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Averaged ended 0.90 per cent down in yesterday's trade.
