The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 61 points, or 0.4 percent, to 16,968, on Wednesday, on renewed buying by investors, amid expectations of more economic reforms. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 21 points, or 0.4 percent, to 5,142. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore rose about 1 percent, each.
