Sensex up by 55 pts in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 96 points, to 18,508 in opening trade, this morning. Later, after slipping more than 80 points into the negative zone, the Sensex again rebounded into positive territory, and had posted a modest gain of 55 points, or 0.3 percent, at 18,468, in volatile trade, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex has already rallied more than 860 points in the past three trading sessions. In other regional markets, key stock indices in Hong Kong, China, South Korea Singapore and Japan were trading mixed, today. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.9 per cent higher, overnight.
