Sensex up by 326 pts in afternoon trade

Paring some of its initial gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange still stood a good 326 points, or 1.6 percent in positive territory, at 21,323 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had zoomed 487 points, or 2.3 per cent, to hit a new all-time high of 21,484, on sustained foreign fund inflows, after the BJP's strong performance in the assembly elections, and amid rising regional bourses. Elsewhere in Asia, stock markets in Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong had gained between 0.1 percent and 2 percent, today after better-than-expected US jobs data.
