Sensex up by 3 pts in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange, which recovered by 19 points in early trade today, was trading 3 points in the positive territory at 17,316 in late morning deals, when reports last came in. After losing 127 points yesterday, the 30-share barometer recovered by 0.11 per cent, on selective buying by funds and retailers, tracking a better trend in Asian markets.Meanwhile, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange was trading 0.5 points in the green to 5,226.In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.06 per cent, while Japan's nikkei index up 0.16 per cent in opening trade. The US Dow Jones industrial average index ended 0.09 per cent lower yesterday.
