The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 231 points, or 1.4 per cent, to 16,254, in opening trade, today, amid rising Asian markets. Gaining further ground, the Sensex stood 273 points, or 1.7 percent in the green, at 16,296, a short while ago. Other Asian markets in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan were up by between 0.1 percent and 4 percent. The markets rose as speculation of rising demand in China overshadowed European debt concerns.
