The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 118 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 17,811 in opening trade, today, on buying by foreign funds, amid positive global cues. Gaining further, the Sensex was up 147 points, 0.8 percent, at 17,840, a short while ago.Meanwhile, stock markets in Japan, South Korea and Singapore were up by between 0.1 percent and 2.5 percent, after the biggest growth in US jobs in three years boosted confidence that the global economy is recovering.
