Sensex up by 136 points after initial losses

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 72 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 15,864 in opening trade, on Tuesday, on fresh selling by investors. But the Sensex later recovered, and stood 136 points, or 0.9 per cent in the green, at 16,071, a short while ago. Stock markets in China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan were up by between 0.1 per cent and 2 per cent, on Tuesday. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had slipped 1 per cent, overnight, amid worries about debt problems in the Eurozone.
