The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose by 39 points in early trade today, on fresh buying by funds as well as retail investors in select stocks. The 30-share index had lost 160 points in the previous session. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange index rose by 10 points to 5,954. In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up by 0.96 per cent in early trade today, while Japan's financial markets are closed today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.96 per cent higher in Friday's trade.
