The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 37 points, to 16,477 in opening trade, this morning, amid firm Asian markets. Gaining further ground, the Sensex stood 312 points, or 1.9 percent in the green, at, 16,753, a short while ago. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also saw an upward trend by over 90 points and is trading above 4950 mark.Key stock indices in Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore were up by between 0.1 percent and 1 percent.
