Trimming most of its initial gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood just 7 points in the positive zone, at 21,178 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened the first trading day of 2014 on a positive note, climbing 53 points, to 21,223, on mild buying by funds and retail investors.Key regional markets were closed for a New year holiday, today. But on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 0.4 percent, to close at another record high in yesterday's trade.
