Sensex trading red, down by 98 points

The Sensex is trading in red. It is down by 98 points at 17517. The 30-share index, which had gained 173 points in the previous session, opened 55 points lower in the morning as funds and retail investors preferred to book profits after yesterday's rally.Banking, metal and IT stocks came under selling pressure and were trading in the negative territory with moderate losses.The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also fell by 21.20 to 5,268 points in the opening trade but rose by 10 points later and was at 5258 points.
