The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 44 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 16,928 in opening trade, this morning, on buying in select stocks by investors.Later, the Sensex gained some more ground, and stood 71 points, or 0.4 percent in positive territory, at 16,955 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. But other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Taiwan were down by between 0.4 percent and 1 percent, today, as data showed that Chinese inflation in September remained at uncomfortably high levels.Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had lost 0.4 per cent, overnight.
