The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange pared initial gains in afternoon trade, today, and stood 67 points, or 0.4 percent in the green, at 17,761, a short while ago. The forecast of a normal monsoon this year underpinned market sentiment. Elsewhere, stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan were up between 0.5 percent and 2.3 percent, as as concerns about Greece's sovereign debt abated.
