Sensex trading flat in afternoon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 137 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 19,432 in early trade, this morning, on renewed selling by investors, amid weakness in the global markets. Later, the Sensex recovered some lost ground, to stand a more modest 31 points, or 0.2 per cent in the red, at 19,538 in afternoon trade, a short while ago.Stock markets in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan had lost betwee 0.1 percent and 1 percent, today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had plunged 1.4 per cent in yesterday's trade.
