The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 105 points, or 0.6 percent in the red, at 16,895, a short while ago. Opened 25 points higher, this morning, the Sensex surrendered all its early gains within an hour of opening, losing 53 points, to slip below the 17,000 level, at 16,947, on profit-booking by investors. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, China and Taiwan were down by between 0.2 percent and 1.5 percent.
