The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 279 points, or 1.7 percent, to 16,725 in opening trade, today, as news of a reconciliation between the Ambani brothers lifted their stocks, and improved market sentiment. After paring some of its initial gains, the Sensex stood 178 points, or 1.1 percent in the green, at 16,624, a short while ago. Other Asian markets in China, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan were up between 0.3 percent and 3.5 percent, today, tracking Wall Street's gains of last Friday.
