The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 95 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 17,556, in opening trade, today, amid firm global markets. But after paring much of its early gains, the Sensex stood just 9 points, or 0.1 percent in the green, at 17,469, a short while ago. Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan were up by between 0.3 percent and 1.5 percent, on renewed confidence in global economic recovery.
