Sensex surpasses 19,000 level

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange today surpassed the 19,000 level by gaining 193 points in the late morning trade on sustained buying by participants. The surge comes amid possibilty of further economic reforms by the government. The 30-share barometer which added 200 points in its previous session rose by 193 points to trade at 19,062 a short while agoIn a similar manner, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty, shot up by 60 points to trade at 5,791.60.In Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng is up by 0.21 per cent, while the Japan's Nikkei gained 0.41 per cent in early trade today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.09 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
