The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange opened 234 points or 1.3 per cent higher, at 17,804, amid firm Asian markets, on Monday. Climbing further, the Sensex stood 300 points, or 1.7 percent in the green, at 17,871 a short while ago. Other Asian markets China, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore were between 1.5 percent and 3 percent higher, after the People's Bank of China signaled that it will end the yuan's de-facto peg to the US dollar.
