The BSE benchmark Sensex rose marginally by almost 14 points in early trade today on selective buying by funds and retailers. The 30-share barometer, which had lost 72 points in yesterday's trade, recovered by 0.08 per cent, to 16,860 with stocks of healthcare, consumerdurables and FMCG sectors trading the positive zone. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty was trading 2.60 points higher at 5,112.Meanwhile, in the Asian region, Japan's Nikkei was up by0.51 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index shed 0.23 percent.The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.47 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
