After a strong opening, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained some more ground, and had rallied a good 293 points, or one percent, to 28,825 a short while ago. The Nifty at the National stock Exchange had surged 92 points, to 8,902. Buying was seen across-the-board, with banking and auto stocks leading the gains. Markets rose across Asia, with key bourses in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore advancing between 0.3 percent and 1.6 percent.And at the forex market, the rupee had appreciated a hefty 27 paise, to 66.55 against the dollar in afternoon trade.
